Why Are Golf Polos So Expensive and Do They Need to Be?

Why Are Golf Polos So Expensive and Do They Need to Be?

If you have shopped for golf apparel recently, you have probably had the same reaction as everyone else. You pick up a polo, check the price, and immediately question how it got there.

Seventy dollars for a shirt starts to feel normal in this space. That did not happen by accident.

Over the past decade, golf brands have shifted from selling performance gear to selling lifestyle. The shirt is no longer just something you wear for a round. It is positioned as a premium product tied to status, branding, and identity. That shift is what drove prices up, not necessarily better performance.

The reality is that most modern golf polos offer the same core features. Moisture-wicking fabric, stretch, breathability, and lightweight construction are now standard. The materials are widely available. The manufacturing process is not exclusive anymore.

So what are you paying for? In many cases, you are paying for the name on the chest.

That is exactly why Bogeys and Bunkers exists. The goal was never to compete on price alone. It was to offer the same level of comfort and performance without the inflated markup. A polo should feel good, move with your swing, and hold up through an entire round. It should not feel like a luxury purchase every time you check out.

Most of us are not playing for a paycheck. We are playing weekend rounds, chasing a few good shots, and enjoying the time on the course. The gear should match that reality.

At some point, it is worth asking a simple question. Are you paying for the shirt, or are you paying for the logo?
